Is A Couples Workshop Right For Us?
You may have seen a Couples Workshop advertised and, although you were intrigued, you still had many questions and weren’t sure if it would be right for you and your mate.
It’s possible you were considering if your relationship was just troubled enough to justify attending, or you may have been concerned about having to share personal details about your relationship in front of others.
In this post, I’ll address all those concerns and answer the common questions related to Couples Workshops so that you can determine if a workshop would be a good fit for you and your partner. (Hint: I bet it will be.)
A New Approach to Happy Relationships
Couples Therapy and Couples Workshops aren’t what they used to be – last ditch efforts to save a failing relationship. The field of Couples Therapy (and Couples Workshops) has evolved to encompass a more preventative approach. Not that these methods aren’t utilized to save relationships on the brink – they still are.
However, couples are now realizing the benefit of investing in a healthy and happy relationship before more serious concerns arise. Research has shown that preventative relationship work is 3X more effective than intervention. You heard that right – THREE TIMES MORE EFFECTIVE!
Gone are the days that you wait until you are ready to leave your relationship before you seek support.
Couples who are doing well are still coming to see me in my practice so that they can be at their best when they are faced with the inevitable ups and downs in their relationship.
Relationship Enrichment services are growing in popularity because couples are working smarter (not harder) on their relationships – before the shit hits the fan.
Is a Couples Workshop Right for Us?
A wide variety of couples attend workshops, but I’ll share a little more information here about the workshops and the couples who will get the most benefit from attending.
Couples Workshops are typically utilized by couples who:
-want to enrich their relationship
-are not yet ready for couples therapy, but would like some tools and additional support
-are currently working with a counselor, but want a supplement to therapy
There are many couples who are a good fit for Couples Workshops. They may be considering engagement, recently engaged, newly wed, long-term partners, or senior couples. The couples are of all ages, races, backgrounds, faiths, genders, and sexual orientations. They may want to enhance an already great relationship, or they may want to learn better communication and conflict management tools.
There are a few couples that are not the best fit for Couples Workshops – and are better suited for individual or couples therapy. Those couples are dealing with severe relationship distress, emotional abuse or domestic violence, active addictions (alcohol, drug, sexual, gambling, etc.), or serious mental health problems in one or both partners. If you or your partner are experiencing any of the above and would like support, please feel free to reach out and I will help you to find an appropriate individual or couples therapist.
One of the main concerns of couples is that they will have to ‘air their dirty laundry’ in front of other attendees. This is not the case. You don’t have to share any details about your relationship in front of others. All exercises and activities are done privately.

I'm Here For Your Relationship
I'm on a mission to reduce the stigma of couples therapy. We are not always taught how to be part of a couple, how to have healthy relationships, and how to make love last. So there's no shame in getting support for your most important relationship. The services I offer could be compared to relationship school.
School is in session and I'm here to help you and your partner increase friendship and intimacy, improve communication, manage conflict, and enrich your relationship.
