I Work With Happy Couples...
I usually get a LAUGH when I say that, but it’s TRUE.
The couples that I work with are HAPPY (for the most part).
They are COMMITTED to their relationship but they just have a few of those pesky things – like communication, conflict management, lack of friendship and intimacy – to work on.
Relationship Coaching for Happy Couples may sound like a strange idea, but TIMES ARE CHANGING.
In the not-so-recent-past, couples only reached out for support as a desperate, final attempt to salvage an already broken relationship. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
I’m a PROACTIVE coach. I enjoy helping couples learn the skills that are necessary for a HEALTHY, HAPPY, LONG-TERM relationship. That’s why I’m all about relationship education through coaching.
What's the Difference Between Therapy and Coaching?
Therapy and coaching are more similar than you may think. But here are a few ways to better understand the distinctions.
It’s important to note that therapists are licensed in individual states and can only provide therapeutic services to clients located in the state that the therapist is licensed in. Coaches do not have individual licenses and can work with clients from any state.
Relationship coaching is usually short-term and goal-oriented. There will be more of a focus on the present and future; however, when the past is addressed it will be used more as a reference for understanding what got you to where you are today instead of emotional healing. Relationship coaching will be more structured with education, goal-setting, and homework that helps the couple to be held accountable and achieve goals.
Couples therapy is usually long-term and focused on emotional healing. There will be a focus on the past, present, and future; however, while focusing on the past there is more therapeutic work on healing past traumas and hurts. Couples therapy can still have goals and structure, however there is more room for exploration of the nuances and intricacies of relationships.
